Again my dog Lucky. He makes a great subject to photograph and especially to practice with the Lensbaby 2.0. He's curious and cute, but makes a great guard when it comes to 'his' garden.

Also I've made a new attempt at a watermark that I actually might like. I had a little help from ~xmarvel. Thanks, hon!

Also see:
Lucky.

Taken with a Canon 400d, Lensbaby 2.0 and Slik Master 67 tripod.

You know what, I just realized that out of all the dogs I've known (and there have been a lot :P) I've only ever met one other dog named Lucky. Hmm...I guess it's not as popular as everyone thinks :XD:

Honestly though, we didn't name him Lucky because we thought it was a good "dog" name. There's actually kind of a story behind it. We lived in Italy about 13 years ago, and this one time my mom was taking me to the hospital and we happened to pass by a group of 3 huge dogs trying to attack this one little puppy. My mom made a crazy u-turn and parked in the middle of the street (this was common in Italy :XD:). She ran out and grabbed the puppy, even though the big dogs were chasing her. Then she sped back home and dropped off the dog with my dad, who doesn't actually like dogs. While we were at the hospital, my dad decided to name the dog "Lucky" as in, lucky that mom was driving instead of dad. But despite all his talk, my dad ended up falling in love with Lucky before the end of the week. :giggle:

Oops! I really didn't mean to make that story so long. :giggle: Sorry to spam your comments! ^^;

Hehe, that sounds pretty familiar! The story was in another portrait of him that I have in my gallery, but I'll copy it here;

"His name was Pucky, but when we adopted him from the shelter where he just got in, we called him Lucky, since he was being heavily abused by his previous owner. He was scared of everything, he didn't know what cars were, he was afraid of people, fast movements and he barely wanted to be touched by his back or tail. He's still pretty scared of sticks and umbrella's, but he's turning around still. He learned commands, walking on a leash (he didn't know what was happening when he first had to walk on a leash). In spite of all that happened to him, he jumped up and down when we first met. My dad brought him home, I got home from work and I didn't know he was there, behind the door. The second I opened the door, he was jumping at me, wagging his tail like a maniac. That was four years ago, and he's turning seven this year."

Guess both of our dogs are really lucky! :hug:

Aww...that's such a sweet story! I'm so glad that your Lucky got to have a happy ending. Every dog deserves a good home. :aww:

Ok, not to keep spamming up your comments page, but your story made me think of another story. :giggle:
About 6 or 7 years ago one of my dad's coworkers brought this little puppy into work and asked if anyone could take it. Apparently, when she went home for Thanksgiving break she saw one of the neighbors using a litter of puppies as target practice. It just breaks my heart that there are people in this would do such a thing :no:. But I digress. This lady ran across the street, screamed at the guys shooting the dogs, and picked up the only puppy that was still breathing. But she had an apartment and wasn't allowed to keep pets, which is why she brought the puppy to the office. My dad begrudgingly brought the puppy home, and said that we would only keep her a week, and then she went to the pound. I think he lasted 24 hours before he changed his mind (like I said, he's all talk :XD:). We named her Mariah. But this poor tiny puppy was terrified of everything. She ran away from birds, fallen leaves, and especially people wearing hats. Understandably, she also hated any noise that sounded like a gunshot. I felt so bad for her when the park down the street had a fireworks display on July 4th. All we could do was hold her and try to calm her down, but she was freaking out. Within a year that tiny little puppy turned into a 90-pound black lab. Whenever a stranger came into the house, they would be a little wary of the giant dog. But they weren't so nervous after Mariah took one look at the stranger, and hid behind my mom's legs. It was super cute, especially because she would peek out from behind my mom, just like a shy little kid :giggle:. And once she got to know someone, she was really friendly with them. She thought she was a lap dog, so if anyone was sitting on the couch she would jump up and try to cuddle with them :aww:.
Sadly, she got stomach cancer and died at only 5 years old :no:. I still miss her so much, but I wouldn't trade anything for those 5 years I got to spend with her.

Sorry, I did NOT intend to end on such a depressing note. I just get very, very attached to dogs. I find that no matter what kind of mood you're in, a doggie can always make it better. :aww:

Oh my. I can absolutely not understand how someone can just shoot innocent puppies :no: That's just awful. I'm glad the coworker ran at the dude, but I'm even more glad he didn't use her as target practice either. That woman sure had a lot of guts!

Sounds like your dog was similar to mine. Mine was also scared of Everything when we got him, fireworks as well indeed. We've had him for about 7 or 8 years already I think. Time flies!

I'm really sorry about the fact that she died so young. But I can imagine those were 5 very great years with her!

I get very attached to every pet we've had. I can still imagine all of them and I love each and every one of them and would never intentionally hurt them. I can't imagine how other people could. But you're right. Dogs can always make you feel better!

Thanks for sharing! :heart:
