Yesterday I went to the Dutch School for Photography for the third time. It's been tiring again, a very long day, but it's again very much worth it. Learned a lot again. We've been working on the white balance, contrast, light metering.. all that stuff. But in studio. Something I didn't really do before. And it was fun to do, good to know all that stuff, but now most of us found out (again) that we don't want to do studio work. Evah. I like daylight, sunlight.. natural light. We were working with spotlights and softboxes. All the pro stuff. And for just one time, it was fun to do.
Also we did a lot of PS. More about Adobe RGB, reading Histograms (Levels), Curves, Ring Around's, doing good black and whites, etc.
For next time we have to do a portrait. Oh noes. I don't like doing portraits. We even got rules that we should follow. They're not allowed to look straight into the camera. The light should fall on the 'short side of the face'. The portrait should say something about the person. He showed us
Merlijn Doomernik. He is awesome. Seriously. I love his work, although the vignettes are a bit over the top sometimes.
We started with about 15 people during the first class. Yesterday we were with only 8 people. I don't know where the others were, 'cause no one called in sick or something. And it's weird, 'cause you can't just drop out and get your money back. When you sign up you have seven days to change your mind, and after that you have to pay all the money, even when you do drop out. It's 900,- for 7 classes. It's a private school, so yes, it's expensive. Why the heck would people just go to class the first day and then drop out? That's like.. 900,- for one class. That's just effed up! Ah well, must say yesterday was the best day though. I really learned a lot, and we could ask a gazillion questions.
My teacher is very fond of
Rigor Mortis. Was good to hear! My classmates really dig
Expirimenta di Hollandia. though. They like others too, but they were like.. frantic about this one. That was a massive ego boost, hehe. Especially that my teacher liked Rigor Mortis. A picture that I like a lot personally, plus the fact that my teacher is a professional photographer.
I really feel like I'm learning a lot already. I really enjoy doing this and in spite of the fact it really keeps me very busy, it's pretty easy to combine with work and other stuff.
I've been really busy with redecorating. We're doing the bedrooms and the glass wool (is that the correct word?) is flying everywhere. If there's one thing I really can't stand it's glass wool. Blegh!
Anyway. I had to dig through about 11 to 12 years of pictures, schoolwork, poems, diaries, drawings and through a heck of a lot memories. Some were really hard to deal with, some still are, but it made me feel at ease for some reason. I threw a lot away.
That's the main reason why I haven't been around a lot last few weeks. Sorry ^
manicho for not sending the mail again sooner. I sent it again a few hours ago. Lemme know if you received it this time and that it's not too late yet! Sorry if it is.
Oh, last Friday I went to Arie & Silvester, Dutch comedians. Oh my god, that was hilarious. I seriously laughed my ass off. It was so much fun. They gave me cramps in my cheeks and belly from laughing. I definitely have to go again!
And my new bed; Purrfect!
Some friends of mine got DD's. It's like it's contagious or something, hehe. I suggested a lot again as well, and some of them got picked. Here a few selections!
