Canon 5D. you can get one used in good condition for about the same as the 50D. Full frame has changed my life. But if you're gonna do any action shooting... stick to the 50D or 40D. But for landscape, portraits even macro I rather full frame(some might disagree with me here).
That's exactly the reason why I'm doubting between the 5D and 50D.. I wouldn't mind changing to full frame At All. I'd love to even, but I'm at a point where I'd like to try more sports photography and I hear more positive stuff about the 50D there. Also, my 10-22 wouldn't fit the 5D which would be a shame, really.. But I'd love a 5D for my macro photography.. I can't choose!
Maybe I should just get the 50D now and start saving up for the 5D (or a used one, like you say). I'm pretty much very done with the 400D that I have now.. Especially since I have my 70-200 2.8 USM IS hehe.. it feels so plastic and tiny.. I want a new one!
Yea for sports the 50D is a lot better. 5D does 3fps vs. 6.3fps. Big difference.
But don't let the lens throw you off though. Because for example I got the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 which doesnt work on my 5D and I have a buyer for it and I'm getting pretty much the same as I paid for it. And that's a tamron. Your canon will keep its value much better. You can always sell glass.
I'm also getting a new canon body. For a while I was thinking about both the 5DII and 50D, but I has decided on the 50D.
It is a bit lighter and smaller, more practical and easier to get around. Another, even more important, fact is that my two favourite lenses (60mm macro and 10-22mm) isn't compatible with a full frame, and I just don't want to part with them just yet
Oh, and as another person mentioned, the 50D is a lot better at sport photographing, so I would have chosen the 50D (or actually I've already deciced though )
You mention two things that are kinda very important to me as well.. the 10-22mm that I LOVE doesn't fit the 5D. And the 6.3 fps do matter to me as well. Maybe I'll go get the 50D a.s.a.p and I'll save up to get a 5D 'some day'
You're right about always being able to sell the glass, but that's kinda the point. I don't want to sell the 10-22, hehe.. maybe I'll just get the 50D for now and when I have the money I'll get a (used) 5D and keep the 50D as a 'spare' for sports and the 10-22.. sounds like a plan. Now all I need is a cute little money tree
